Wakizashi Japanese Sword (Iaito)

This beautiful Japanese sword has a double wave hamon blade and simple koshirae (fittings). The blade was designed imitating the master MASAMUNE who lived during the late Kamakura period. The tsuba (sword guard) is in the shape of a chrysanthemum and the tsuka (handle) has real shark skin and dragon menuki on both sides. The saya (scabbard) is made of hackberry wood and has a cotton sageo.

The sword blade is made of a special alloy specifically developed in Japan for Iaito. It will never rust, thus will never need to be polished. As the Iaito's purpose is for martial arts practice, it is not meant for and not sharp enough for cutting.
