This beautiful Japanese sword has a double wave hamon blade that has been designed imitating the master smith KOTETSU who lived during the early Edo period. It has excellent koshirae mountings and distinctively yellow in color. The tsuba sword guard is steel and the tsuka handle has real black same ray skin, cotton tsuka-maki wrapping, and menuki on both sides. The saya scabbard is Kuroishime black matte and made of fine wood and has a cotton sageo. Also, this sword comes with bag for transport/storage. The master swordsman Kondo Isami (1834-1868) of the late Edo period, or Bakumatsu in Japanese, was famous for using a sword by Kotetsu. Isami was a master and head of the Tennen Rishin Ryu and leader of the Shinsengumi, a group of ronin designated by the shogunate to police Kyoto prior to the Meiji Restoration.
